Engineering Entrance Exams 2013-14 in India
No AIEEE, IIT-JEE, State CET - Single Engineering Entrance Exam from 2013 in India.
From 2013, there will be a new method for admission to various Engineering colleges in India including IITs, NITs etc. There will be a new common entrance test in India for Engineering that will replace AIEEE and IIT-JEE exams.
The new common entrance test consist of two objective type tests - Main and Advanced. The merit list of students will be prepared on the basis of cumulative total of marks of class 12th, Main and Advanced. The students in the Top of the merit list will be shortlisted for the IITs.
The states will have the full freedom to join the new method for admission in their Engineering colleges. Haryana, Gujarat, Maharashtra have been already decided to adopt this new method for their engineering colleges from 2013, said by HR Development Minister Kapil Sibal.
The government has also come up with an innovative idea that students can pay their fees once they get a job. Kapil Sibal said "At present, the fees for engineering is nearly Rs. 6-8 Lakhs per student. Students can pay their fees in installments after completing their course".
